About and Membership

Deep South All  Breed Obedience Training Club (DSABOTC)

We welcome you to Deep South All Breed Obedience Training Club (Deep South ABO). Founded in 1946 by a group of local dog enthusiasts, Deep South is a 503(c)(7) non-profit club dedicated to training all dogs to become better companions. We will help you and your dog become an effective working team with open lines of communication. Deep South strives to deepen the bond between you and your dogs so they become a joy to live with. We offer a variety of classes to pursue this goal. All breeds and mix-breeds are welcomed.

Membership is required to participate in classes. Membership dues are $100 your initial year and $35 dollars each subsequent year. All funds are directed back into the club. Once a member, you can attend as many classes as desired with as many different dogs as desired. The membership application form can be found here.

Our experienced trainers teach classes of several types: puppy obedience training, intermediate pet obedience, handling for breed conformation shows, as well as several performance disciplines, such as agility, obedience, and rally, depending on demand. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings at the Oschner parking lot on the corner of River Road and Labarre Rd. DSABOTC is approved by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to hold both obedience and agility trials if you are interested in entering performance events with your dog. We host several of these events a year. For more information on upcoming events, sign up for the newsletter.
